Happy Birthday John Lennon (10/09/40-12/08/80), We Miss You

A musician. A Beatle. Father and husband. An activist. A poet. Just a man, indeed. Today marks what would have been John Lennon's 70th birthday and one is left to wonder just what could have been. Unfortunately for us all, 30 years ago on December 8th, 1980, he was assasinated near Central Park by a gentleman who doesn't deserve to be named here or anywhere for that matter. It had been a time of quiet before the storm for John. His long battle with US Immigration had finally ended in 1976 and he took time away from music to stay at home and be with his family. He said he'd retired from music but who could believe that. By 1979 John felt the itch again for life in the studio and recorded the album 'Double Fantasy' rejuvinating a career that only needed a slight push. What was ahead? A Beatles reunion perhaps? On several occasions before his death John eluded to a reconciliation with Paul and regretted some of his missteps when the band parted ways. So who knows...it's a nice thought. I wish I didn't have to wonder.
