The Foo's Are Going Back To Basics, Now That's What I Like To Hear
A few months back right here on this blog I singled out the Foo Fighters as one of the bands that needed to do something significant with their next record or they might just fizzle into oblivion. Now it's not that I don't like the Foo's, because I really do, but every band at some point or another reaches a point where they are faced with a major impediment....themselves and need to find a way to conquer it. One way is to break up and go separate ways. Another would be to change things up or go back to their roots. And here we have the Foo's doing just that! I'm very excited to say that the band is in the studio or I should say in Dave's garage, recording a back to basics hard rock record. Also exciting is the fact that they have joined with original Foo's producer Butch Vig, with whom they worked with on their first album, to recreate the harder sound that maybe their most recent records have been missing. In one other momentous addition, Krist Noveselic, Nirvana's base player, will be guesting on one of the songs...cool indeed! Of course the Foo Fighters will always be overshadowed by the enormous success of Nirvana when in actuality the Foo's have really been more successful. However perception is a bitch. But this could be their moment of reckoning and hopefully Dave and the group take full advantage. Can't wait to hear the new stuff.
